The venue opened in 1927 as a Hollywood motion picture house and was restored in 2004 with an $80 million dollar renovation to preserve the original Art Deco decor and glamorous charm. The theater has been rated amongst some of the most famous opera houses in the world and has been said by various architects to be the most beautiful theater in the state of California.
